This exempt position prepares creative landscape designs, detailed job specifications, and accurate cost estimates to generate sales proposals necessary to increase company revenue, improve quality work, and enhance customer satisfaction; perform related work as required.

Collaborates with internal and external clients on the design and installation of comprehensive landscape design packages ranging from small upgrades to major installations; completes design sketches, presentation drawings, diagrams, working drawings, schedules, and other computer-generated or hand-drawn documents as required by each specific project; develops proposals for the Company President to review; visits various gardens and job sites and relays ideas to the Company President as needed; coordinates site inventories; develops sales plans and gathers information into the final customer proposal for sales presentation; confers with clients, operations staff, or the Company President regarding the overall project or specific elements of the design as needed; inputs information into CAD and converts it into a base drawing; keeps client files organized and complete (e.g., drawings, photos, plant pictures, estimates); conducts sketch-ups and color rendering; compiles and analyzes data on such site conditions as geographic location (e.g., land contours, soil, vegetation, rock features, drainage, location of structures) for preparation of environmental assessment, job proposal, and development of landscaping plans; reads and interprets documents such as community requirements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; writes routine reports and correspondence as required; interprets various instructions (e.g., written, oral, diagram, or schedule); develops creative and attractive landscape plans catered toward customer expectations and goals (both budgetary and aesthetic); prepares sales proposals, job specifications, and cost estimates related to constructing the landscape; creates blue prints as required; oversees projects with the ability to plan, organize, execute, and track multiple projects; coordinates efforts with operations, design, and administrative staff on multiple, large-scale and complex projects to ensure client's technical requirements are fully met; surveys the site and its natural resources to generate an optimal design solution; chooses trees, shrubs, and plants that will suit the local environment and client needs; gives presentations to various audiences when required; achieves sales goals; organizes all notes, communications, and files; attends meetings; uses the Microsoft Office suite and company software; and provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, vendors, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

An example of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position includes: a Bachelor of Arts degree in Landscape Design/Architecture and at least two (2) years of professional experience involving landscape design, landscape architecture, or horticulture equivalent to that described above.

Working Conditions: Work is predominately in an office environment with associated noise, space, and computer screen exposure; though some work will required being outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels; exposure to dust, pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, dust, fumes, and electrical currents.

Introductory Period: Incumbents appointed to this job classification serve an introductory period of three months.
